A Bit About Me
I’m Jo-Anne Burmeister, an experienced online English teacher with over nine years of expertise teaching students of all ages and levels. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with learners from diverse backgrounds, including Chinese and Korean students, helping them achieve their language goals in both professional and academic settings. My passion for education is matched by my dedication to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. Beyond teaching, I’m a writer who has self-published a poetry book, and I enjoy exploring history, digital art, and creative projects in my free time.
Teaching Style
My teaching approach is student-centered, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual I work with. I focus on pronunciation, grammar, intonation, and vocabulary, ensuring concepts are thoroughly understood. I offer regular feedback, practical tips, and personalized homework assignments to help students overcome challenges. For younger learners, I incorporate Total Physical Response (TPR), props, and rewards to make lessons engaging and fun. With my corporate background, I also support adults in work-related tasks, from presentation preparation to conversational skills. My goal is to create a welcoming and compassionate environment where students feel empowered to learn and grow.
